I'm the (self-proclaimed) resident environmental policy, law, and politics enthusiast. Chances are if you see a post on CoSphere relating to any of these topics, I was likely involved!
On a sunny day you may see me running through Pacific Spirit Park or wandering around downtown Vancouver trying to get my vitamin-D. This fall though, you’ll catch me in Washington D.C. pursuing a master’s degree in policy and administration.

Long winded response here.
It’s hard to pinpoint a specific moment because I’ve really always had an affinity towards policy, government, and law. But I’d say it likely arose from my love of history since I was a kid. I'd consider myself a bit of a history buff, which has exposed me to a multitude of government, law, and policy topics over the years. In fact, three of my favorite classes in high school were International Relations, European History, and US Government. I was also a proud founding member of my high school’s political science club, which was really just an excuse for me and my friends to meet up after school and debate politics (nerdy I know).
However my love for the natural science seemingly triumphed and I majored in environmental science at UBC (though I did consider minoring in poli-sci on multiple occasions). Over the past 2 years I’ve sort of rediscovered my love of policy, law, and government. I realized I didn’t have to give up this interest for my career in the sciences and that I could combine the two. This ultimately lead to my decision to now pursue a master’s in environmental policy.
I'm wondering how you got interested in law and policy initially. I have found a growing interest in this field myself but only in a sort of roundabout way once I realized how significant this institution was as a barrier to much of the change we are pushing for. Where did it start for you?
What kind of political podcasts do you listen to, Meg?? Any around environmental or social policy?
