Research Analyst (Climate Resilience)
We are looking for an auxiliary Research Analyst (Climate Resilience) to join our new Climate and Biodiversity team for approximately 4 months commencing May 2022. This position is funded in part by the Pacific Institute for Climate Solutions (see eligibility criteria below).
With your proven commitment to environmental protection and sustainability, you will assist with the advancement of the District’s climate protection projects and programs. You will compile and analyze data from various sources, research best practices, and prepare reports and submissions. A key focus will be to work with staff and departments across the organization to review implementation of the District’s Climate Change Adaptation Strategy, identifying actions completed or underway along with barriers and challenges. You will research and evaluate best practices regionally and beyond towards identifying key next steps towards increasing the District’s climate resilience. You will also assist with other related projects and programs.
You have completed an undergraduate degree in environmental science, planning, business, or engineering. You have a sound knowledge of climate science and policy along with a proven ability to develop and execute research projects and gather and interpret information from a variety of sources, identify trends and best practices, prepare reports and provide recommendations based on findings. A sound knowledge of research methods, techniques and practices is required along with excellent knowledge of spreadsheets and statistical and analytical principles. You have an ability to translate complex and technical information into lay terms as you present your findings. Strong facilitation and writing skills are required along with exceptional interpersonal skills. Some evening/weekend work may be required.
Salary range for this unionized position is $33.56-$39.50 per hour plus 12% in lieu of all benefits.

This position is partially funded by the Pacific Institute for Climate Solutions (PICS). Eligible students must be enrolled in a fulltime undergraduate or graduate program at UVic, UBC, SFU, or UNBC, and must either be returning to complete their degree programs following the internship or have completed their programs the semester prior to the start of the internship.
