Forests are some of my favourite places to be, and fresh air is also my favourite to breathe.#UnleashValues. While forests fires have always occurred, climate change is increasing the frequency and intensity of these fires.
I think it would be "fire" if we could live in a society where forest fires are seen as a phenomenon of renewal and an effective management tool.
Then, this might invoke a wide-spread demand for forest managers to take guidance from Indigenous fire keepers, who use prescribed burns to quite literally, fight fire with fire.

Absolutely!!! I love and share all of the thoughts and feelings that you shared in this post! Let's change our collective mindset on forest fires and work with nature to find our way out of this enormous challenge! Thank you for the article suggestion, I will definitely be taking a look at that!
Yeeesss!! Bringing in Indigenous voices, experiences, and expertise is a great idea Megan (and thank you for the interesting article to)
Hi Megan,
To suggest, some interventions could be raising awareness about forest fires and human effects through workshops or educational programs in local communities perhaps.
I really like your point and post that seeing controlled burns as a phenomenon of renewal. There's a lot of cultural credence to the practice that has not been mentioned as much and I think bringing more attention to it. It would help not only promote the practice but to garner an appreciation for the environment too.
Hey Megan! I definitely agree with you there, it would be extremely awesome if fire could be viewed from a beneficial angle. I think that people would first need to be provided the tools and resources to educate themselves with, since people usually (can't blame them) associate fire with bad things.
Nice post, and thanks for sharing that article! It’s always unfortunate to see how often governments disregard centuries of Indigenous knowledge, but it seems like strides are finally being made in that respect.
Hi Megan, I also think that we should highlight the idea of forest fires in terms of renewal and management, and implement prescribed burns to manage forest fires.
Hello Megan! I think this is a great idea and something we as a society could work on.
Hi Megan, I completely agree that we should use prescribed burns to help control these fires!
