I envision a world in which all components of a society confronting climate crisis together: economics, culture, technology, politics, environment, etc., all value sustainability as a central concept in their vision and action. I envision a space where we are safe to disclose our weaknesses, insecurities, fears, and all other kinds of vulnerabilities, thereby we can understand and support each other with more empathy across invisible boundaries.
I value a healthy society whereas any development or advancement is not on the sacrifices of other basic existing goods but only on improving them or displacing the harmful ones. We are aiming for more sustainable resources and lifestyles rather than fighting and winning against each other for limited and diminishing resources. One possible advancement to my envision could be to improve across-section sustainable system building between players in society.

Hi Judy, I truly think that you have a kind heart for advocating that we should not be fighting and winning against each other for the limiting resources! I also agree that this would be the most ideal future in terms of being sustainable. However, I feel like a lot of the time things can go wrong, and embracing imperfection here is more important. While tackling the water crisis with practices like sanitization can cause water prices to skyrocket, the affordability of scarce resources, in general, is always going to be an issue in reality especially in the cases of lower socioeconomic status.
Hi Judy, I think your statement of "I envision a space where we are safe to disclose our weaknesses, insecurities, fears, and all other kinds of vulnerabilities" resonated with me alot. It's often that we think along the lines of our strengths when considering how we can contribute to the issue of the climate crisis. How would you recommend building this system?
I found that I resonated with your post a lot. It is important to be able to express our values without being criticized without feedback or be turned away for our visions. How do you think we can have large scale, extracurricular discussions where we are safe to be vulnerable with one another?
Hello Judy, I appreciate your vision of a safe and comfortable place where we can displace our weaknesses and vulnerabilities and in the real world what would this place look like? An organization, a campaign, or an online tool?
Hi Judy, I completely agree with you! I think you brought up a great point about how allowing others to be vulnerable, as well as disclose weaknesses, insecurities, and fears is very important in trying to foster a more sustainable future. Oftentimes, I feel like sustainability initiatives are extra focused on "physical" interventions (e.g. creating water filtration systems, reducing consumption, etc.), but we often forget that, in order to achieve these physical outcomes, we have to all be on the same page mentally and emotionally as well. The climate crisis is too big for any of us to tackle alone, but if we work as a team, change can be made, slowly but surely.
I love your vision of a safe space, that seems like my perfect world too! I would love to know more about what action you think can lead to people feeling safe to disclose their vulnerabilities.
I agree that development should not destroy our existing goods. We need to put aside fighting and competition and come together as a global community- like your picture shows!
