Recent years have shown how easy fast consumerism is, especially with the influence of social media’s trend cycling. Things like fast fashion, although we may not realize it or think too much about it sometimes because the products are cheap, creates such a large carbon footprint and negative impact on the environment. I envision a future where fast fashion companies are no longer supported, and we focus on sustainable sourcing instead. A step towards this would be for us to limit our purchase of items from fast fashion brands and focus more on things like thrifting or buying second hand. By doing this, we can all help reduce the production of fast fashion and thus lower the negative impact it has on our environment.

Hi Kelly, I agree, fast fashion needs to stop. Excessive shopping for clothes that are not needed increases their production, which comes with more transportation and energy, all of which have negative affects on the environment. In order for such an intervention to be lead to system changing action, it is essential for people to raise their voice and express that they are against this social trend. Further, these visions have to be supported by several other groups, organizations and people in the communty.
Hi Kelly, awesome post! I think you bring up great points about focusing on thrifting or buying second hand, this will surely leave much less of a carbon footprint! One concern that I have, however, is how will you go about trying to pursuade people away from fast fashion brands and towards a more second-hand way of buying? What strategies would you use to pursuade people? Fast fashion is something that many people still strongly support, so it might be difficult to shift some consumers' perspectives away from this method of buying.
Hi Kelly! I agree that fast fashion is huge problem. Many of the brands that market themselves as clean or sustainable, turn out to be fast fashion. As consumers, we need to do our research on where our money is going.
I love thrifting! Sometimes it can be hard to find what you're looking for, but sometimes you can find even cuter things that the stuff on Shein. Saying no to fast fashion doesnt have to mean saying no to all fashion. Being sustainable can be stylish!
