I envision a future where people and wild animals can live in cooperation with one another. Animals play crucial roles in different ecosystems, but too many of these megafaunas have been driven to extinction by humans. The effects of their extinction can be seen for more than centuries after. This could be achieved through campaigns that inform people about the beneficial roles of animals for the environment. Sharing videos (such as the ones that we watched for this class) that show people the adaptability of animals and teaching them about the benefits of fauna can give everyday people a greater appreciation for their relationship with animals. With more everyday people having more appreciation, public perception and demand may result in more rewilding and/or less extinction.

I love this idea Suragan! It seems simple, but bringing awareness to people about the wildlife around them can have really far-reaching impacts. People already plant certain species of plants when they know hummingbirds or bees in their region would benefit from them, so imagine how people might change other aspects of their lives/how they share their space with nature if they were made aware of all the different species that they share their urban areas with! As Clare mentioned in class, most people have no idea that coyotes share our urban areas with us and that this is normal!
Hi Suragan, as urbanization becomes more common, it is necessary to teach people how to coopoerate with wild animals, we may not go back to the time where humans and anmials could live without disturb and interact with the others. I definitely agree that peopple should appreciate animals in our world and protect them from extinction.
Hi, Suragan. I agree with the idea that public perception and demand could actually make a difference in reducing wildlife extinction. In fact, we should also take a part of the responsibility to prevent the wildlife extinction. Publishing and promoting definitely help citizens understand the importance of biodiversity better, which might result in a better result for wildlife conservation.
I agree that rewilding requires cooperation between man and nature, giving nature the opportunity to rebuild its rich and biodiverse state.
Hi Suragan, I agree! I think that part of the problem is that many people just don't know a lot about this subject so more public education would be great.
Hi Suragan Upadhyay, I agree media can be a powerful tool we can wield to gain the attention and care from the masses regarding rewilding. Do you have any ideas on how these campaigns could best reach people to mobilize such an initiative? Perhaps the government could invest in advertisements for such purposes.
I love your intervention! Living in a world of technology, educational videos are definitely a big aspect in educating and spreading awareness to people!
Definitely! Unfortunately, many people fear larger animals due to a lack of understanding. I have experienced this on hikes where other hikers try to scare off black bears when these bears are actually at a safe distance from the trail. In reality, black bears are not interested in attacking humans. We need to do a better job educating others about animal behaviours so less harmful human-wildlife interactions take place.
Hi Suragan, humans have always been a disease regarding the safety of other animals. Stricter laws are needed to stop humans from causing this.
I agree Suragan, we need to embrace co-existing with animals, and understand that our relationship with nature is beneficial for all.
I agree that campaigning needs to be done to inform and educate people on the crucial roles animals play in our ecosystems
Rewilding is definitely a group effort and we need to spread the word about how important it is!
