Once a week, for three hours at a time, and even with two holidays taking up two classes, I never envisioned this class to be so.........Wonderful.
The weekly videos are fantastic, and what I look forward to most every Friday is the variety of perspectives I get to see on the cosphere. It's the first time in four years that I've been so intensely involved in a discussion, and I get to express my thoughts as much as I want, and even if I don't have any, I still send something out.
A lot of the stuff in the class was relevant to our lives, and I really liked the closeness of it, and I liked what was happening around me more than other concepts and theories.
I loved the class and all the things that happened in the class and the people I met in the class. If I were to do it again I would still choose this class.
Hey Robert!
Thank you for your post! Just wanted to say that I really enjoyed reading what you posted this term. You have a very open, honest, and reflective writing style. Even if you didn't have a clear solution each week, I always valued what you had to say.
I think you touched on one of the most important aspects of this course: community. I'm an Arts minor, so I've taken several courses that have had tutorials or set aside time for class discussions. I haven't had any science courses that have generated the same sense of community as those Arts courses. That is, until ENVR 430. I hope there are more opportunities to take discussed-based science courses like this one in the future!
I think wonderful is exactly how I would describe my experience in this course. I love the different perspectives everyone brings to the table every week and likewise this was the first time I've experienced that in a class, but hopefully not the last.
While I didn't have time to watch every video/movie for that week, it was a refreshing approach to homework and the discussions definitely made the course more interactive.
Hi Robert, I have to say the class kept us on our toes and had us constantly engaged, before, after, and during! It was a very well designed course!
This class was brilliantly designed with the pre-readings and CoSphere posts. I completely agree that it was great to learn actual things, rather than theories, and meeting all these new people and perspectives. I'm really going to miss these classes!
Hello Robert! It's a shame this class was only once a week and that so many holidays fell on it :( However, I'm glad we both had the same enjoyable experience!
The weekly homework was a lot to go through but I will definitely use the knowledge gained from it for a long time, which I can't say about other classes. Great post Robert!
Hi Robert I felt the same way! I also think this course is the one I expressed my thoughts the most throughout my whole university life.
That's true, an aspect that I didn't really consider before. The cosphere gives a lot of people a voice and the stage to interact with others, who might not be very open in the real life.
