I envision a future where humans and animals coexist, where wildlife is not as significantly impacted by humans. An enormous area of rainforests is cut down to provide land for agriculture to support the infinite demands of humans. This can result in the collapse of ecosystems as many of those rainforests are homes to thousands to millions of organisms. Wildlife should not have to be sacrificed to provide for the greedy demands of humans. To combat this, laws banning deforestation can be implemented and more resources need to be put into preserving and restoring the rainforests. Education about the need to preserve and restore rainforests must be provided in schools and to adults to raise awareness of the issue and also have more people involved to help solve the issue. A possible way to raise more awareness could be using social media to create a trend where people show the beauty of nature and rainforests.

That's true, deforestation is such a common talking point especially about the environment, but no one actually does anything because they are desensitized to it.
Hi Jinny! I agree - there should be laws put in place restricting deforestation which would definitely be a good measure into conserving biodiversity!
Thanks for sharing! In line with your idea about showing nature through using social media, I think it is so important that people recognize the nature in their own cities/homes - that it is not just seen as something that is remote and removed from humankind, but rather inherently connected.
Hi Jinny I absolutely agree with your idea! Instead of deforest to create more agriculture land, I hope we can use our intelligence and technologies to think of ways to create more crops efficiently with limited area of land.
I think it is very urgent to ban deforestation. But the government may consider the huge economic benefits of the forest and thus not ban it completely. So it is very necessary to find an alternative to deforestation.
I'm thinking the same as you're thinking, that insatiable human need harms the entire earth's ecosphere. It has led to the collapse and disruption of the ecosystem. I think we should stop such ridiculous unrestricted mining in the forest. From January to June this year, 3,988 square kilometres of forest were deforested in the region. This is an increase of 10.6% compared to last year's period.
Great post Jinny! To add to your thought, I can advocate that I think it would be a great idea to rely on indigenous techniques and management for forest cultivation. This is due to the fact that when the government is in had for forest production they over harvest because of economic need and instability. Whereas indigenous communities can also incorporate economic needs but understands the restoration and management of the forest.
It would be great to target lawmakers in campaigns surrounding issues like deforestation. There has been a substantial movement in BC advocating for the ban of old growth logging, but it unfortunately seems to have been unsuccessful thus far. As you mentioned, education about the importance of rainforests is a very important factor in creating a base of concerned citizens. I think this education, at least in schools, should take place in forests in order for people to draw deeper connections to the importance of preserving forests.
I agree that wildlife shouldn't be sacrificed for our selfish actions!
Wildlife contributes so much to our society. I agree that raising awareness to preserve and restore rainforests would allow others to understand how to get involved to preserve our beautiful rainforest.
I agree! I liked your idea of targeting lawmakers to ban certain problematic practices.
