I totally agree with you on the topic of vulnerability. Being in an environment with like minded peers who also care about climate activism provided a comfortable setting for me to think introspectively, and caused me to reconsider my own opinion and confront my own biases.

I agree. The core message of this course, I feel, was to remain hopeful in the face of growing apathy, and that systemic change comes from action.

Having a group which you can bounce ideas and get feedback from facilitated this class really well.

Totally agree -- poaching and the devastation of species for human greed is heinous. I'm curious what policies you would target to limit it though? Or would you try to funnel money into anti-poaching operations?

Totally agree -- I understand the position of the parent to want to keep their kids safe from bacteria that may be in dirt, but it's also important to realize that it's for their own good. Immunity and resistance starts early, and exposure is the most effective way build up resistance.

Totally agree: if we can talk more openly about what we want t o happen when we die, then their love ones would be less likely to choose the traditional burial method in the west -- burial after being embalmed, and can instead choose from the myriad of other, more sustainable options.

Totally agree. Death care is a complicated and difficult topic to discuss, but I think having MAiD as an option for those that suffer from debilitating conditions should be respected.

Totally agree! Predatory anti-consumer decisions by companies should be curbed, and paying $40 for a new charger when one breaks is unreasonable. Consumer protection standards need to be brought up to EU standards in North America.

This was a very interesting read! I haven't though of a business based equality solution. I think matching the investment of companies in humanitarian initiatives is a good idea, and more companies may invest responsibly if there is profit in it other than for tax purposes.

Totally agree. Patagonia suffered an issue where their transparency in business invited criticism because people weren't use to getting such insight into the production process, but if there were mandates to force transparency then such targeting may not occur.

Totally agree. While it's true that billionaires have a disproportionate amount of power compared to the average citizen, each one of us should take some personal responsibility about where we put our money. Consumer education is paramour, and even if it may be difficult, we should always try to support companies whose values we align with.

Totally agree with you. The effect of high con concentrations of particulate matter on humans is clear: it has universally negative results, ad impacts long term health. Wildfire control and risk reduction is paramount to ensure that we don't have smoked over cities like we did this summer.

Totally agree, we need to have a paradigm shift in our thinking that all wildfires are inherently bad. Controlled fires are a critical way which we can deplete fuel reserves to ensure that naturally occurring wildfires aren't catastrophic.

Great post. Controlled fires are of critical importance to ensuring that horrendous, more powerful than averages fires like the one that raged recently in BC never occur again.

Interesting point Philip! I agree that depleting fuel reserves is of paramount importance before disastrous wildfires can occur, but I wonder what that would look like? Should loggers focus on cutting down dead trees rather than still living ones?

Apathy in the face of what seems like an insurmountable challenge, especially for a single individual to do anything about, is a natural response. I agree that the air quality in Vancouver is, discounting our yearly wildfire haze, fantastic, and as a result we may feel like thee isn't a major problem in the world. I think it's so important to, as you said, consider the world around us, and realize that just because we have it good, doesn't mean that it isn't a problem in other places.
