Talking and spreading the message of environmental issues is so important in the grand scheme of things, as how will others know about a problem when we don't talk about it?

I was really nice to be part of a like-minded large group who care about things you care about, as sometimes it is difficult to find others who share the same ideas and thoughts you have.

Social media has the power to change things, and garner attention that was not possible a few decades ago, but like all things, it does have its downsides.

I agree, it was really nice to take a course that address problems at hand currently and the solutions, rather than discussing something that has already happened.

Definitely, the pre-readings were a great way to get introduced and get a preview of the topic beforehand, allowing us to come to class a little more prepared for the discussion and the lecture.

I had no idea that people could be buried in an eco-friendly way, and has thought that the anti-ecological burials were the only way burials were allowed. Burials and cremation are really expensive, which is why so many people tend to go with it, as they want the best for their deceased loved one.

Honestly speaking, I think that COVID-19 really changed the way people think about animals and the world around us. With everyone locked in their homes, the world actually healed to a certain degree, and as you mentioned some animals got to experience their natural habitats once again.

Honestly speaking, parenting and being responsible for a child is so difficult in this day and age. There are so many differing opinions, that you would feel inadequate no matter what you do. Some parents would never let their children play in dirt just for the reason that they would get dirty, and people would judge them for allowing their child to mess around in the dirt.

Yes, I agree that we need to increase the awareness of death care options. Most people do not even know that other options are available other than cremation and anti-ecological burials. We need to educate ourselves, and perhaps funeral homes should be mandated to reveal all of the options you have, rather than only the ones that make them the most money.

I completely agree, death has become such a taboo topic, making people hesitant to talk about it. As cliche as it sounds, death is inevitable, so we should get more comfortable talking about it and the death care that comes with it.

I think that it is so cool to make compostable bags out of things like corn, potato, and tapioca. It would be fascinating to use these bags and then just pour a fluid onto the bag and have it disintegrate into something you can use in the garden. However, I do think that the technology to make this possible will take some time to develop and get it to fully function.

I agree, somethings we buy are wrapped it plastic for no reason. If we think about it, there is no need more clothes to be sealed in plastics bags, as they are already shipped in cardboard boxes. You can usually not use the disposable plastic bags again, as they rip the second you open them up to take your product out of the bag, making matter worse.

Plastic is largely involved in everyones' lives, whether we realize it or not. It definitely takes longer than a single glance to understand how much plastic you use, and an even more time to realize how detrimental it is to the environment.

I agree, that laws need to be placed that reduce that amount of plastic that is used carelessly. Selfish intentions can be seen from a mile away, as plastic is a cheaper option as compared to other options like paper and cardboard. With plastic being cheaper, the amount of plastic being generated is larger, and the environmental impact is even larger.

While the businesses that produce and market products need to be held responsible, we need to be held responsible for what we consume too. We are all guilty of buying things without doing some research about where they came from and the impact it has on the environment. We cannot point fingers at others without pointing at ourselves too.

It is sad to see people brave and willing enough to be leaders be targeted rather than applauded. Your post reminded me of how Patagonia took a step towards being transparent but was crucified harshly for it when they did not know a detail about their product. I find it highly ironic because the companies that were calling them out were not transparent at all.

I agree completely that we cannot rely on philanthropy to solve all of the world's problems including the climate crisis. Most philanthropists are not giving out of the goodness of their hearts, rather it is a way to benefit themselves by cheating the system and paying lower taxes for their wealth.

I agree! Companies are taking advantage of their innocent and uneducated consumers by posing as companies that are green and care about the environment when in reality all they care about is the hefty cheque being deposited in their bank account. It is extremely hard to convince people to change, especially those who have been set in their ways and have benefited greatly for a long time.

Certifications are a great way to ensure that people get educated about the products they consume, and the regulation of said certificates is even better. Regulations allow for a reduction in confusion and an increase in transparency.

Not all fires are reasons for panic. As we learned in class, fire is something that is natural and it is important for ecosystems. Some ecosystems require fires to come in and change things up so that some organisms thrive. I agree that wildfire patterns should be monitored, and some fires should not be put out unless they are causing damage to areas that should be protected.
