I think that this course did an amazing job of interweaving the social and environmental aspects of the issues we discussed. Dr. Chan's lectures and our classmates speaking out in class really deepened my understanding of the issues I already knew existed.

Likewise to you, I am so thankful that I discovered how passionate just UBC students are about these issues. I'm glad that I'm not alone in tackling the issues we talked about and hopeful that my classmates will be there alongside me in the future.

I totally agree I think so many students outside of science would love to take this course! AND on top of that I think everyone SHOULD take this course.

Sometimes ENVR courses can leave you feeling defeated and small, but this one I believe inspired us. It made us feel a slight glimmer of hope that there are people like us out there, ready to make a change.

I think wonderful is exactly how I would describe my experience in this course. I love the different perspectives everyone brings to the table every week and likewise this was the first time I've experienced that in a class, but hopefully not the last.

New parents get so many opinions thrown at them, from family, friends and even strangers. It's so hard to raise a kid, especially when there's so much misinformation about their health. Raising awareness of the health benefits of exposing children to everything the environment can throw at them builds more resilient kids.

This is such an interesting connection that you made! I had never thought about how little control we have about how we die and what happens after. The last that they can give us is control in our final/post-final moments.

I remember seeing the news articles of dolphins returning to Venice and shedding a tear. We like to think the entire world is ours but it's not. It's so beautiful to see and think about the earth with us living in harmony with the other species

Hi Shanzeh! As a Costco fan myself, I would love to see this happen! I'm so glad that you brought up a company that's so near and dear to our hearts and also gave them a feasible solution. I'm sure some die-hard Costco fans would be against anything changing or getting complicated but just a little change by one company would make such a big difference!

Exactly as I mentioned earlier in the comments, I've noticed a lot of small businesses adopting more eco-friendly packaging but can't thing of any big businesses that have. I hope that someday soon we can make everything larger scale and force these big businesses to convert too.

I think that we already have the technology that makes this functional, we just haven't been using it at a large scale because of costs. Yesterday I bought a cookie from a small business and it came in a fully compostable bag, why can't others use this?

I think anything beyond that is actually necessary for sanitization issues is just bizarre. I got a package this week that was one small box, covered in bubble wrap and inside a plastic bag 10x bigger than the product. Crazy!

Sometimes it's almost comedic how plastic wrap is added to things! I've seen oranges wrapped in plastic before, but they already have their own self made peel lol!

Hi Kevin, I had no idea this law was passed! I love the idea that everything converts to the same plug (thus foiling apples plans to keep changing their charger over and over again). Same as you I really wish North America could do this as well, especially as we have such big tech regions like Silicon Valley.

I totally see what you mean how businesses have completely lost our trust and it sucks that one of our best solutions involves getting something else people commonly mistrust (the government) to solve it by enforcing eco-conscious laws. I love how you brought it down to an individual level, thinking of how we can make our businesses more friendly!
