Hi Sofie, I agree in that awareness and education can help people understand that more eco-friendly options exist for after-death care. A barrier is definitely the fact that many individuals refrain from acknowledging that death is a part of life that everyone will eventually undergo!

Hi Maia, great post, I really enjoyed reading it! Perhaps another possible intervention to eliminate the use of plastic for poppies is for organizations to support local crafters in communities. On Etsy, I saw beautiful crocheted poppies and they can be reused every year! Here's an example....

UPDATE TO MY POST! I was grabbing coffee at Blue Chip this morning and was pleasantly surprised when I got my receipt. They've switched their receipts to a recyclable and BPA free option produced by a company called EcoChit based in Richmond.

I think most grocery stores have done a great job getting rid of plastic grocery bags, offering reusable bags for sale or encouraging customers to use provided paper bags or cardboard boxes. I agree that we need to fully ban single use plastic. To this day many produce items are packaged using single use plastics. I've seen herbs being sold in plastic containers before!
