Great post! It’s absurd how people freak out when animals they consider unwelcome enter cities, when you consider the degree to which human settlements encroach on habitats. City planning definitely needs to support coexistence.

Nice post, and thanks for linking the study! We definitely need to persist with FMT research. Based on patients treated for C. diff infections, I think it’s safe to say that these treatments don’t have the immediate and severe side effects that medication can cause, so it'd be great if FMT could treat other issues.

I think your post does a great job of tying together the emotional aspects of death. Your perspective on loneliness in isolated boxes was really interesting!

I think you made a lot of great points! It's really interesting that we don't have much agency in how what's left of us is treated after death. On the one hand, it sounds obvious, but then you consider that the vast majority of our deceased are funneled down money-making, GHG-producing avenues.

That could be interesting! I don't actually know a whole lot about cleanup efforts beyond them putting jellyfish at risk, but I thought the science on the amount of plastic out there was depressingly solid. If you have more accurate sources, I’d be happy to see them!

LCA does need more consistent methodologies and expanded temporal and geographic scope. I liked your mention of comparing the benefits of different courses of action, that sounds like a really good idea!

I think a lot of us just can't comprehend the sheer amount of plastic that's discarded and ends up in the ocean. I thought I'd share a link about a patch of plastic roughly the size of Alaska out in the Pacific ocean.

Nice post! I agree that too often, corporations try to emphasize recycling to protect their bottom lines, when we should be reducing our overall consumption.

It’s also interesting that you brought up business education: there haven’t been any serious proponents of laissez-faire ideals in quite some time, and externalities are studied in some detail, but you’re absolutely right that environmentalism needs to be emphasized.

Thank you for shedding light on this specific amendment! It’s good to hear about newer policy frameworks like these, with how bleak the course material gets sometimes. It’ll be interesting to see what the Impact Assessment Agency can accomplish with its expanded mandate.

I like how you touched on bringing together scattered voices to make a change. As much as regulations and even our demand are influenced by corporations, consumers are not entirely without power.

I think you're right that a lot of companies are too risk-averse to make meaningful commitments toward transparency. It's definitely the responsibility of consumers to use their demand to signal support of good actors, to whatever extent they can.
