I had an unforgettable time in ENVR 430 class. I saw many documentaries and videos about the environment that I hadn't seen before, such as biofilms that filter sewage and succulent farms with complete biological chains, which are sustainable ways to solve environmental problems. Vision. In the future, sustainability will take priority over economic benefits in various companies or government projects. Values. I value sustainability, recycling, and reuse. Actions. I will only buy what I need, prioritizing used items. Discuss more environmental issues with my family. #UnleashValues@CoSphere

I envision a future where we can live in harmony with the natural world. I envision a future where all living beings are treated with respect and dignity. In sleepless cities, I see lots of animals move to cities. Some are derived from sufficient food, some have no choice cause their original places are taken. I hope there are more care concern plans for the wildness lives in cities, especially for those initial lives distrusted by human activities. For example, protect the turtle’s eggs from raccoons to ensure the reproduction of turtles, and set a period during the day to let elephants pass through the road to ensure that they get enough food. #UnleashValues @CoSphere

I had the pleasure to visit a large waste treatment plant before, unlike the dirty, dark place people may imagine, the waste treatment plant is almost clean unless the place is stacked the garbage. I remember one thing that the expert who leads our team emphasized, which is that make sure the purity of biodegradable waste, such as table scraps and grasses. If the purity of biodegradable waste is high, this waste can be treated and then used in agricultural farming. However, if the biodegradable waste contains above 20% of other garbage, such as plastic, this waste can only be treated in a landfill, and even the cost is higher than usual. It was very common to see plastic appear in biodegradable garbage. I envision a future that plastic bags can be separated from biodegradable waste, to make sure all biodegradable waste can be valuable. Even though plastic is hard to be recycled, the mix of plastic and other waste is less valuable and harder to be treated. To achieve this, it required more garbage education to evoke citizens' responsibility, and strict laws to guide the actions. I heard that garbage education is mandatory in primary schools in Japan, maybe we need more similar lessons. #UnleashValues@CoSphere

One person’s concepts are formed by the surrounding society, including advertisements. Our consumption view is often manipulated by advertisements. Whether the example of Volkswagen's cheating test or the false guidance of sugar, they confirm the power of business. Even if you don't watch any advertisements, the authority we believe may also be influenced by business. I doubt that many people believe that the concept of “organic is better” also be guided by commercial propaganda under the anxiety of food safety. If I hadn't read a post criticizing organic before, I might have been influenced by the concept of organic. I envision a future that our views, especially those related to consumption, will not be affected by advertisements. People will treat information more critically. Nothing is 100% good or nothing is 100% bad. To achieve this goal, it is necessary to support education about how to check the truth of the various messages, or take critical news examples in schools to help people gain more critical thinking. #UnleashValues @CoSphere

Based on the greenhouse emission, the rising temperature is making countless effects. On the coast of BC, mussels are stuck to rot, so mussels are cooked in the heat. In addition, the less cold temperature causes the less skating days in winter. I evasion a future that kids in Canada can enjoy skating in winter, people who live near the coast don’t have to move away from their hometown caused of the sea level rising, our kids don’t need to worry about air quality, and fewer plants and animals will affect by a forest fire. To achieve this goal, we should pay more attention to the effect of global climate change, and do more efforts, such as planting more trees, reducing greenhouse emissions, choosing a more sustainable diet, and never never smoke in or near a forest. #UnleashValues @CoSphere

There are two main sources of food on Earth: land and water. For land, I understand that soil degradation is a serious problem in many places. Like the early farm in the biggest little farm. There is no cover, no nutrients, and no microorganisms on land. The soil looks like sand. From Kiss Ground, many farmers don’t really know the land operation mode, they may use pesticides and nitrogenous fertilizer to ensure their output, however, this is not a sustainable way to take the harvest. The chemical substations we use are consuming the land’s ability to generate food. The farm in the biggest little farm is a very good example that people and nature achieve a balance. I hope in the future, there are more of these examples. I hope there are more polyculture farms in the future. For fishes, I like fish, and I know the number of some species reduce because of overfishing. However, I am shame that I never know that fish farming may also kill a big amount of wild fish. Maybe the government will make laws to force fishermen to release wild fish, like the laws to release small fries. #UnleashValues @CoSphere

The water shortage is now a global issue. I was very surprised to see so many special water purification facilities in Brave Blue Water. For example, I never thought that moisture in the air could also be extracted and used. In addition, the combustion products made from feces really make the domestic waste get full circulation, which is very good, but I still doubt the benefits of this operation, otherwise, it is still difficult to promote. Secondly, more information is required to ensure that the water purification box or membrane can indeed purify wastewater to drinkable water; thirdly, if the cost is too high, or higher than the cost of transporting purified water from afar, this technology is difficult to promote, especially among the poor. Other questions, such as what is the raw material for the production of the membrane, and is the cost high or low? What kind of waste will be generated by these technologies in the process of purifying purified water? In addition, does the energy required for the water purification box be large? How to deal with membranes after water purification? Are they harmful? Even though some people are not in the water-shorted area and don’t use the water purification facilities, they can still save water by reusing the water in their daily lives. This is also a contribution to preventing the global water shortage and helping our future drinkable water protection. @CoSphere #UnleashValues

Most of the time, we hear the voice of someone who has chances to speak to us, but it doesn't mean that the voice we don’t hear, they are not exist. First nation suffered unjust treatment, ignored by the majority of the society. Their water and land suffered, but this would not just happen in indigenous people. The polluted water will finally flow and the food planted in polluted land would sell to everyone, including the people who allow to release the untreated waste in indigenous lands. Indigenous people have rights to reject the garbage and wastes from other places and other people. @CoSphere #UnleashValues

I hope in the future people will not be worried about food security. Because human is at the highest tropic level at present, every polluted item in fish, chicken, or beef, would finally move into the human’s body. In the ocean, many fishes eat plastic bags, and finally, these plastic particles enter the human body. So even though plastic bags are very convenient and cheap stuff in modern society, and are useful in daily life, people should consider whether can we control the final destination of these plastic bags. Protecting the environment of all animals is protecting humans ourselves. There is also some wastewater emission from industry polluting the ocean security, the waste released to the ocean just because it is convenient without cost, the government should make laws to control, and everyone should aware of this. #UnleashValues @CoSphere
